Controversy has been risen around the world concerning the practice of Water Fluoridation; adding fluoride to drinking water supplies as a means of killing bacteria, preventing tooth decay and quite possibly to keep the population a little more docile. While water fluoridation may kill some bacteria, and keeping the population docile is a conspiracy theory, the claim that it prevents tooth decay has never been proven nor adequately studied. There are no research studies which back the tooth decay prevention claim, at all, and to make matters worse the studies that do exist on fluoridation have shown the practice to cause more harm to human health than good. A 2014 study by Grandjean and Landrigen even now lists fluoride as a developmental neurotoxin.
The first section of this article will display 4 manners in which water that contains Fluoride or other chemicals may be purified. Two of these methods will not only ensure that chemical impurities are done away with but that any other contanimants such as dirt and bacteria are taken care of as well! The second section will contain articles pertaining to the potential dangers of Water Fluoridation, address the lack of scientific research and end with the origins of this potentially dangerous practice. Lastly, just what are the conspiracy theories concerning population control all about?
Removing Chemicals from Water
Three of the most simple methods of doing so are by Reverse Osmosis, Distillation and Activated Alumina Defluoridation. The first two methods are excellent for water purification in general though one must add supplements to distilled water, due to it’s lack of minerals it is potentially unsafe to drink in large quantities. A fourth manner is by use of Bone Char Carbon which is 90% effective, this method is best used in tandem with other purification techniques. Before we get into the detailed specifics of each individual method, here are two short articles on this very same subject.
“Here is a list of ways to obtain drinking water without fluoride. In addition, I’ve listed water purification methods which do not remove fluoride from water.”
“To top it all off, fluoride is difficult to remove from water. Most water filter sales literature avoids the subject. When buying a water filter, you may be comforted by reading that the system you are purchasing removes 95 to 99% of contaminants, but if it does not specifically state that it removes fluoride, you can bet it doesn’t. Fluoride is a very small ion (atomic number 9). It cannot be “filtered” out of water.”
Dancing With Water
“Reverse osmosis is now used in medicine and industry as a means of purifying or separating water and other solvents from other components. In recent years, it has been used increasingly for making pure water for dialysis in hospitals and for producing Water for Injection.”
Reverse Osmosis: A Scientific Explanation
“Distillation is a process that relies on evaporation to purify water. Contaminated water is heated to form steam. Inorganic compounds and large non-volatile organic molecules do not evaporate with the water and are left behind. The steam then cools and condenses to form purified water.
Distillation is most effective in removing inorganic compounds such as metals (iron and lead) and nitrate; hardness (calcium and magnesium); and particulates from a contaminated water supply. The boiling process also kills microorganisms such as bacteria and some viruses. The effectiveness of distillation in removing organic compounds varies, depending on such chemical characteristics of the organic compound as solubility and boiling point. Organic compounds that boil at temperatures greater than the boiling point of water (some pesticides) can be effectively removed from the water. Organic compounds that boil at temperatures lower than the boiling point of water (ex., benzene and toluene) will be vaporized along with the water. If these harmful compounds are not removed prior to condensation, they will recontaminate the purified product.”

Bone Char Carbon
“Bone char is a granular material produced by charring animal bones: the bones are heated to high temperatures (in the range of 400 to 500 °C) in an oxygen-depleted atmosphere to control the quality of the product as related to its adsorption capacity for applications such as defluoridation of water and removal of heavy metals from aqueous solutions.”
Due to the nature of decomposing organic matter, the difficulty in acquiring so many bones and the intense heat required to create this product, we would much rather recommend purchasing this material than trying to make it yourself.

Activated Alumina: The Superior Solution for Environmental Cleanup, Pharmaceutical Purification and Clean Energy Applications
“Activated alumina is an inorganic substance produced by the dehydration of alumina hydroxide at high
temperature. The material is highly porous and exhibits tremendous surface area, resulting in superior
adsorbent capabilities. It is resistant to thermal shock and abrasion and does not shrink, swell, soften or disintegrate when immersed in water.
Alumina possesses amphoteric properties allowing it to act as either an acid or a base. The ability to alter its pore or particle size provides it with a spectrum of unique biological and physical properties that can address specific desiccant and/or separating needs for the life and environmental sciences.”

This link is an example of buying Activated Alumina canister filters. Though this may seem like a hefty price to pay for a water filter this is the source website to a very large manufacturer, meaning this is actually pretty cheap.

The Fluoride Studies
“The EPA has established a Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) for fluoride in public drinking water systems. MCLGs are nonenforceable health standards for drinking water. MCLGs are set at a level at which no adverse health effects would be expected to result from the consumption of two liters (0.53 gallons) of contaminated water per day by a 70 kg (154 lb) adult. The MCLG for fluoride is 4 ppm. To protect children against dental fluorosis, the SMCL of 2 ppm was established. Secondary MCLs are only guidelines for protection of the public welfare and are not enforceable.”

Indeed it does appear as if limits which American government organizations have placed on fluoridation of water supplies does indeed ensure that fluoride is not dangerous to human health. Normally this would be sound reason to no longer be alarmed, unfortunately studies on fluoride and human health did not account for variables which would interfere with them.

NTEU Chapter 280
“Dental fluorosis is caused by taking in too much fluoride over a long period when the teeth are forming under the gums. Only children aged 8 years and younger are at risk because this is when permanent teeth are developing under the gums. The severity of the condition depends on the dose (how much), duration (how long), and timing (when consumed) of fluoride intake.
Increases in the occurrence of mostly mild dental fluorosis were recognized as more sources of fluoride became available to prevent tooth decay. These sources include drinking water with fluoride, fluoride toothpaste—especially if swallowed by young children—and dietary prescription supplements in tablets or drops (particularly if prescribed to children already drinking fluoridated water).
What are the common sources of fluoride?
- Toothpaste (if swallowed by young children).
- Drinking water in fluoridated communities.
- Beverages and food processed with fluoridated water.
- Dietary prescription supplements that include fluoride (e.g., tablets or drops).
- Other professional dental products (e.g., mouth rinses, gels, and foams).”
Center For Disease Control
“Children aged 12-15 in 1999-2004 had higher prevalence of dental fluorosis compared with the same aged children in 1986-1987.”

“Fluoride & Tooth Decay: The Facts”
(brief summary of article)
Fact 1: Fluoride’s Primary Effect is Topical, Not Systemic
Fact 2: There Is No Difference in Tooth Decay Between Fluoridated and Non-Fluoridated Countries
Fact 3: Fluoridation’s “Benefits” Have Never Been proved by a “Randomized Controlled Trial”
Fact 4: Modern Studies show fluoridated water does not reduce the number of decayed, Missing or Filled teeth
Fact 5: Fluoridated water has a trivial effect on the number of decayed tooth surfaces
Fact 6: Fluoridated Water Does Not Prevent Oral Health Crises in Low Income Communities
Fact 7: Tooth decay does not go up when fluoridation is stopped
Fact 8: Fluoridation is much more likely to cause dental fluorosis than reduce decay
“As of May 16, 2013, there are 37 studies associating fluoride exposure with reduced IQ in children.
In July (2012), a team of Harvard and Chinese scientists published a study that warned of fluoride’s potential to reduce human intelligence. The researchers issued their warning after reviewing dozens of studies from the past two decades that have linked elevated fluoride exposure to reduced IQ in children. Although the National Research Council issued a similar warning in 2006, advocates of fluoridation continue to push ahead with plans to fluoridate yet more water supplies in what is already the most fluoridated nation on Earth: the United States.”
Peer Reviewed Studies of Affect on IQ
“According to the National Toxicology Program (NTP), “the preponderance of evidence” from laboratory studies indicates that fluoride is a mutagen (a compound that can cause genetic damage). A chemical that can cause genetic damage is one that can likely cause, or contribute to, the development of cancer.”
Flouride and Cancer
“Fluoride Was Once Prescribed as an Anti-Thyroid Drug
When people think of fluoride being prescribed for medicinal purposes, they generally think of fluoride supplementation to reduce tooth decay. Fluoride, however, has also been prescribed as a drug to reduce the activity of the thyroid gland. Up through the 1950s, doctors in Europe and South America prescribed fluoride to reduce thyroid function in patients with over-active thyroids (hyperthyroidism). (Merck Index 1968). Doctors selected fluoride as a thyroid suppressant based on findings linking fluoride to goitre, and, as predicted, fluoride therapy did reduce thyroid activity in the treated patients. (McClaren 1969; Galletti 1958; May 1937). Moreover, according to clinical research, the fluoride dose capable of reducing thyroid function was notably low – just 2 to 5 mg per day over several months. (Galletti & Joyet 1958). This dose is well within the range (1.6 to 6.6 mg/day) of what individuals living in fluoridated communities are now estimated to receive on a regular basis. (DHHS 1991).”

Why Fluoridate Water?
“Water fluoridation has been described by the Centre for Disease Control as one of the ten most important public health advances of the 20th Century1. In this brief paper, I will describe the history of water fluoridation and discuss the value of this policy in the early years of the 21st Century.”
History of Water Fluoridation
The more commonly spoken of history behind water fluoridation talks of a journey to Colorado Springs and the doctors who studied the strange effects of naturally occurring fluorinated water on teeth. What people tend to forget speaking about is the fact that flouride is naturally occurring in soil and rocks all over Earth, in some areas more than others. In modern day society what does humanity do when finding an abundant resource that it has no idea to do with? To question even further, when already mining for all sorts of different minerals what does society do with this toxic flouride waste that is left over?
A few organizations and companies had come up with the perfect answer to these questions. The early 20th century had plenty of mining operations, combine this with the fact that medical professionals were researching the effects of fluoride on oral health and the birth of another industry arises. Why not put all of this toxic waste in the water supply, while we’re at it what else can we do with it?
“Fluoride is in the phosphate mineral “fluorapatite” that is mined in Florida. Fluoride in small doses, like in the fluoride in our toothpaste, is beneficial to our health and can strengthen our bones and teeth. In large doses, however, it can cause tooth mottling and even deterioration of bones (fluorosis). Phosphate companies historically have had scrubbers in the stacks of their chemical processing plants, but in the 1960s cases of citrus damage and fluorosis in area cattle caused regulators to tighten the restrictions on fluoride emissions. Since that time phosphate companies have improved their scrubbing techniques and today fluoride emissions are not considered to be a problem. It is scrubbed from the stack and is either recovered to make fluosilic acid, which can be sold for uses such as water fluoridation, or is sent to the cooling pond.”
Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute
“Cities all over the US purchase hundreds of thousands of gallons of fresh pollution concentrate from Florida – fluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) – to fluoridate water.
Fluorosilicic acid is composed of tetrafluorosiliciate gas and other species of fluorine gases captured in pollution scrubbers and concentrated into a 23% solution during wet process phosphate fertilizer manufacture. Generally, the acid is stored in outdoor cooling ponds before being shipped to US cities to artificially fluoridate drinking water.
Fluoridating drinking water with recovered pollution is a cost-effective means of disposing of toxic waste. The fluorosilicic acid would otherwise be classified as a hazardous toxic waste on the Superfund Priorities List of toxic substances that pose the most significant risk to human health and the greatest potential liability for manufacturers.
Phosphate fertilizer suppliers have more than $10 billion invested in production and mining facilities in Florida. Phosphate fertilizer production accounts for $800 million in wages per year. Florida’s mines produce 30% of the world supply and 75% of the US supply of phosphate fertilizers. Much of the country’s supply of fluoro-silicic acid for water fluoridation is also produced in Florida.”

The Conspiracy Theories
Combining a lot of the knowledge granted to us by medical research concerning the adverse affects of fluoride within the body, many people have become outraged. Though government agencies and scientists have clearly stated, through peer reviewed studies, that fluoride is unsafe for human consumption and the environment as a whole there are still cities across the globe fluoridating their water. This brings people to the notion that perhaps water fluoridation is not done to help people but instead to suppress their existence.
Our question to the believers of such conspiracy theories; how do you validate your claims? What we’ve found goes a little something like this:
Dr Strangelove: “Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous Communist plot we have ever had to face? I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.”
General Jack D. Ripper: “Mandrake, do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk… ice cream. Ice cream, Mandrake, children’s ice cream.”
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, 1964
Though highly unfortunate, entertainment propaganda has a very strong foothold on public opinion, these short statements initiated a massive inception of thoughts that carried into the 21st century. Though the movie quotes have been forgotten this seems to have been the spark which started a lot of conspiracy theories, like the next one.
The Use Of Flouridation For Mass Mind Control
“I have your letter of September 29 asking for further documentation regarding a statement made in my book, The Truth About Water Fluoridation, to the effect that the idea of water fluoridation was brought to England from Russia by the Russian Communist Kreminoff. “In the 1930`s, Hitler and the German Nazi`s envisioned a world to be dominated and controlled by a Nazi philosophy of pan-Germanism. The German chemists worked out a very ingenious and far-reaching plan of mass-control which was submitted to and adopted by the German General Staff. This plan was to control the population in any given area through mass medication of drinking water supplies. By this method they could control the population in whole areas, reduce population by water medication that would produce sterility in women, and so on. In this scheme of mass-control, sodium fluoride occupied a prominent place.”
The conspiracy that I believe in the most comes not from the Nazis or British Entertainment, when it comes to corruption I’m much more a fan of good old Patriotic American Capitalism!
“American ‘education and research’ was funded by the Aluminum Manufacturing, Fertilizer and Weapons Industry looking for an outlet for the increasingly mounting fluoride industrial waste while attaining positive profit increase. The ‘discovery’ that fluoride benefited teeth, was paid for by industry that needed to be able to defend “lawsuits from workers and communities poisoned by industrial fluoride emissions” (Bryson 1995) and turn a liability into an asset. Fluoride, a waste constituent in the manufacturing processes of explosives, fertilizers and other ‘necessities’, was expensive to dispose of properly and until a ‘use’ was found for it in America’s water supplies, the substance was only considered a toxic, hazardous waste. Through sly public re-education, fluoride, once a waste product, became the active ingredient in fluorinated pesticides, fungicides, rodenticides, anesthetics, tranquilizers, fluorinated pharmaceuticals, and a number of industrial and domestic products, fluorinated dental gels, rinses and toothpastes. Fluoride is so much a part of a multibillion-dollar industrial and pharmaceutical income, that any withdrawal of support from pro-fluoridationists is financially impossible, legally unthinkable and potentially devastating for their career and reputation.
Funded by US industrialists, in an attempt to encourage public acceptance of fluoride, Edward Bernays, known also as the father of PR, or the original spin doctor, began a campaign of deception to persuade public opinion. Barnays explained “you can get practically any idea accepted if doctors are in favour. The public is willing to accept it because a doctor is an authority to most people, regardless of how much he knows or doesn’t know”(Bryson 2004). Doctors who endorsed fluoridation didn’t know that research discrediting fluoride’s safety was either suppressed or not conducted in the first place. Fluoride became equated with scientific progress and since it was introduced to the public as a health-enhancing substance, added to the environment for the children’s sake, those opposing fluoride were dismissed as cranks, quacks and lunatics. Fluoride became impervious to criticism because of a relentless PR offensive, but also because of it’s overall toxicity. Unlike chemicals that have a signature effect, fluoride, a systemic poison, produces a range of health problems, so it’s effects are more difficult to diagnose.”
