This video does a good job of describing Nyhan et al’s 2011 Dartmouth study into cognitive dissonance, which is an internal aggravation or frustration towards information that threatens your worldview. To put that in layman’s terms: it shows you how to convince people of facts they didn’t want to know.

To sum up the video, and the study: help boost the person’s self-image to make it easier for them to give up false beliefs, and/or use visuals and diagrams. This knowledge is important in explaining any issue to others or to a group, and is especially relevant in regard to the environment and climate.
